David Arthur Reed is a by commission designer and builder of fine furniture.
1) Initial conversation
What is the item desired. Size, Shape, and maybe what species of wood, if the client has the wood, or is familiar with the different woods available. What kind of room or space is this item to be built for. Then what is your price range and time table.
2) Design Collaboration
After our initial conversation, knowing all that I have learned about the desired piece, I will develop several sketches and wood samples (if needed) then together we can make our decisions and finalize our last design. This I will also sketch up and work on until all is agreed upon.
3) Contract
I will then draw up a simple contract. In this I will include the details that we have discussed, and have already agreed to. My payment schedule, which is half of the total price of the piece up front, and the remainder after completion.
4) Shipping
I am sorry, but I do not do any shipping, at this time. The shipping price is not included in your price and you are responsible for all shipping. I will work with whoever you choose to pick up your item to the best of my ability.
